A modest Freshers in London....

As I mentioned a little while ago in my last post (I think) I have university as of October 1st, which is tomorrow! The other week I had to travel up to Chelsea College of Arts, which is a different campus but part of the same university, to enroll and pick up my student ID. I was pretty pleased with it, even if they did stretch the photo a means I can now get Student Discount in a huge array of shops (finally)
Ahh student IDs are surprisingly exciting for me :) The other day I had a little go at using it when i paid for some new skinny jeans in New Look and managed to get a few £ off...its small but it really makes a difference. I also started using something online called MyUnidays and its a discount that many clothes stores such as Topshop and Urban Outfitters have signed up to. Basically if you're part of a university you sign up and it gives you 20 percent off in lots of clothes shop. So look it up if you get the chance!
I'm probably going to write an entry about this website next week anyway, but check it out in the mean time :)
So student IDs aside, it was freshers week this week, and I decided to do my nails (for once). I used a selection of nail art pens to create a cat and star theme. It seemed quite appropriate considering halloween is at the end of the month...Lots of people really liked my nails, which made me really happy! So I might do a little tutorial post this month on this design, we'll see anyway.
Freshers week was okay I guess - it was mostly a clubbing/drinking themed week, and whilst I'm not a big drinker, it was a really nice opportunity to meet up with my friend Alfie Johnson!
Hes a really talented illustrator, who went to UCA with me and is going to London College of Fashion, which is another campus part of the same university as me. Its quite nice really because he's doing fashion illustration, whereas I'm doing illustration, so we have similar degrees in that sense..
Anyway, we decided to meet up for the freshers fair! The freshers fair was held at the St Martins College, which again is yet another campus that is part of the same university. We turned up about 15 minutes after it started and there was already an enorrrmmouss queue and it was raining too :(
Thats just part of the was a really nice building however, just a five minute walk from St Pancras international station.
After queueing up for around half an hour, we finally got into the freshers fair and it was super busy and packed! There were so many stalls there handing out free leaflets and pamplets, and the occassional society to sign up to. We couldnt stop laughing at the Marxist Society stall they had there... marxism is the foundation of communism, for all those who haven't heard of it :|
So this is a big pile of crap ... we were given just SO many leaflets. I spent about half an hour going through everything deciding what i actually wanted to keep from the freshers fair
And this is a big organised pile of useful stuff we received at the freshers fair! Some of the awesome things we got included London Graphic Centre discounts, Competitions to win stuff, Stick on tattoos, Nandos vouchers, art supplies and sketchbooks, and a few leaflets for clubbing nights I was interested in too.
There was also an anime and gaming society stall at the freshers fair, so I managed to pick up their card too :) perhaps I'll even attend one of their anime viewing nights :3
Lovely bit of discount...I may have to make it more of a habit to go to Nandos now...
And of course the stick on tattoos..."dont panic" is an art website for illustrators and graphic designers..I literally havent worn a stick on tattoo in years.
Well anyway, I start university tomorrow. Can I believe it..hmm. I literally havent been back to university since I have alot of things to get used to. Wish me luck :D

Artist Research Project

So basically my university decided 8 weeks ago to give us an artist research project to do, due in on our first day! I went through most of the summer holidays thinking that perhaps they weren't going to set us any work...but oh boy was I wrong. And they didnt exactly notify us very well on the project either. The only reason I found out we had a project to do was because out of curiosity I logged on to our student portal and had a little nose around. If I hadn't done that, there is no way I wouldve known about the project and would've totally embarrassed myself on the first day.
Basically, the project asked us to look at a variety of books/magazines/websites and artists and to create a scrapbook about what we found interesting - so in other words, it was an artist research project. I haven't quite finished it yet, but I've spent alot of time and effort on what I have done so far! I haven't got too much let to do....artist research projects arent the most interesting to do, but I took photos of the work I've done so far and I'm pretty pleased with how they look visually, so I thought I'd share them on here :)

A Conclusion to a Summer of "Hard Work" :3

I haven't really posted as much as I would've liked to in the last month or so - I've been making the most of my last few weeks off before I go back to uni! I've done alot of shopping, made time to see friends, gone to London and other places, worked on my summer project and got everything ready for university generally....although I won't lie, probably 30% of my time this Summer has been used on fanfiction writing.
I haven't done any ff writing for YEARS. But I sort of promised myself in the last 12 months I'd at least make some attempt to start writing it again. I'm a huge X Files fan - so much so that I spent a whole afternoon once clearing out a shelf in my bedroom just so I had space to put all 9 X Files dvd box sets and both the X Files movies on a shelf for easy reach and regular watching access.
Oh yes.
So I kind of started a particular story that I do not wish to name :3 although if you're into The X Files and you're a regular up at then I'm guessing you may well have read it. I started writing it in late June and it did pretty well to begin with, and by mid summer, I was getting nearly half a thousand hits a week.
Literally my face when I began to realise the monster I had created.
So I really got quite serious about it as I created a following of readers from a mixture of Europe, North and South America and I'm still working on my story all the way here in September. And the thing is I'm only half way through the story, I'm tied down to this now fml.. so in conclusion to just three months of writing I've managed to rack up over 8000 hits...
Please don't judge me :O I've had so much fun.

So apart from THAT I managed to achieve my Summer weightloss goal! OH YES.
So I've lost a total of 1 stone which is roughly 14lb in three months, making me officially 8 stone or 112lb. Also on a sweeter note, my waist has gone from 26.5 inches to 24 inches. Aside from having to sell a few clothes that had become way too big for me, I can now happily call myself a UK size 6-8, when before I was more a UK 8-10. Which is always lovely to hear :3
I'm pretty pleased that my boobs have stayed the same too, although they're now a 32C instead of a 34C, so they're the same size but my torso has got thinner due to weightloss...
Apart from that I don't have any exciting photos to show you or anything particuarly pretty to post on here. So heres a picture of me in a Rilakkuma onesie. Enjoy.
