A modest Freshers in London....

As I mentioned a little while ago in my last post (I think) I have university as of October 1st, which is tomorrow! The other week I had to travel up to Chelsea College of Arts, which is a different campus but part of the same university, to enroll and pick up my student ID. I was pretty pleased with it, even if they did stretch the photo a means I can now get Student Discount in a huge array of shops (finally)
Ahh student IDs are surprisingly exciting for me :) The other day I had a little go at using it when i paid for some new skinny jeans in New Look and managed to get a few £ off...its small but it really makes a difference. I also started using something online called MyUnidays and its a discount that many clothes stores such as Topshop and Urban Outfitters have signed up to. Basically if you're part of a university you sign up and it gives you 20 percent off in lots of clothes shop. So look it up if you get the chance!
I'm probably going to write an entry about this website next week anyway, but check it out in the mean time :)
So student IDs aside, it was freshers week this week, and I decided to do my nails (for once). I used a selection of nail art pens to create a cat and star theme. It seemed quite appropriate considering halloween is at the end of the month...Lots of people really liked my nails, which made me really happy! So I might do a little tutorial post this month on this design, we'll see anyway.
Freshers week was okay I guess - it was mostly a clubbing/drinking themed week, and whilst I'm not a big drinker, it was a really nice opportunity to meet up with my friend Alfie Johnson!
Hes a really talented illustrator, who went to UCA with me and is going to London College of Fashion, which is another campus part of the same university as me. Its quite nice really because he's doing fashion illustration, whereas I'm doing illustration, so we have similar degrees in that sense..
Anyway, we decided to meet up for the freshers fair! The freshers fair was held at the St Martins College, which again is yet another campus that is part of the same university. We turned up about 15 minutes after it started and there was already an enorrrmmouss queue and it was raining too :(
Thats just part of the was a really nice building however, just a five minute walk from St Pancras international station.
After queueing up for around half an hour, we finally got into the freshers fair and it was super busy and packed! There were so many stalls there handing out free leaflets and pamplets, and the occassional society to sign up to. We couldnt stop laughing at the Marxist Society stall they had there... marxism is the foundation of communism, for all those who haven't heard of it :|
So this is a big pile of crap ... we were given just SO many leaflets. I spent about half an hour going through everything deciding what i actually wanted to keep from the freshers fair
And this is a big organised pile of useful stuff we received at the freshers fair! Some of the awesome things we got included London Graphic Centre discounts, Competitions to win stuff, Stick on tattoos, Nandos vouchers, art supplies and sketchbooks, and a few leaflets for clubbing nights I was interested in too.
There was also an anime and gaming society stall at the freshers fair, so I managed to pick up their card too :) perhaps I'll even attend one of their anime viewing nights :3
Lovely bit of discount...I may have to make it more of a habit to go to Nandos now...
And of course the stick on tattoos..."dont panic" is an art website for illustrators and graphic designers..I literally havent worn a stick on tattoo in years.
Well anyway, I start university tomorrow. Can I believe it..hmm. I literally havent been back to university since I have alot of things to get used to. Wish me luck :D
