External Project - The Owl and The Pussycat app

Our second project of the year was the External Project - we had to choose from a list of live projects with a variety of organisations ranging from the BBC to Southwark council. I was most interested in a live project by Shoreditch based company Nexus Productions, which involved designing a concept for a children's interactive storybook app. I decided to illustrate The Owl and The Pussycat (reworking a previous project from first year!).
Most of the interactivity involves simple drag and click, such as recieving the 'boat hire' ticket from the machine or helping the Owl to play the guitar. Another idea is using the microphone on the ipad to 'blow' the Pea Green boat out to sea. I have as of yet to make it a working app! For now it is just concept illustrations. This is definitely one of my favourite works from this year, and I think when I get some time I might continue with it (:

Book Project - Part IV

Finally the last post from this project - I am mildly glad to see the back of it ;) I had alot of trouble getting this work printed into a decent looking the past I've almost always worked with, which previously had been a good experience however with this project they printed everything badly. I ended up getting it printed twice (expensive!) - however I made the most of this 'opportunity' by adding a few more spreads to the second print. So here it is - my edition of Magnus Mills 'All Quiet on the Orient Express' in hardback with full colour illustrations.

Book Project - Part III

After building many sketchbooks of collage and all the rest, I began playing with clay. I started making objects from my sketchbooks into little ceramic objects, which I was rather fond of! In the end I decided that these objects would be packaged up and sold as a collectable item that would come with my edition of 'All Quiet on the Orient Express'....which I will show you in the final post for this project next time :)
